The Klingon moon Praxis explodes following an accident. A key energy production location, the explosion leaves the Empire in dire straits and suddenly amenable to achieving a lasting peace with the Federation. Kirk and his crew are dispatched to escort the Klingon chancellor to peace talks, but there are those within both the Klingon Empire and Federation who are conspiring against peace.
